We have all the know-how, infrastructure and economic capacity in house to carry out in-depth preliminary investigations. Combined with our experience in aligning remediation works with redevelopment programmes, this opens up a range of possibilities tailored to the client. A common thread in our approach is that we take away all the hassle for our clients, in full transparency, so that they can look to the future without any distractions.

DEME is also involved in the development of innovative, sustainable projects. In this regard, we play a pioneering role in making sites sustainable and offer support in setting up strategic processes that help achieve climate-neutral business parks.

― On-site soil remediation and mobile soil remediation installations

DEME has a network of more than 15 soil processing and sediment recycling centres at strategic locations in Belgium, the Netherlands and Northern France, the largest of which can process up to 400,000 tonnes a year. We also offer clients the flexibility of mobile treatment installations. We have designed and built a number of mobile soil washing and recycling systems that can be used worldwide for the on-site treatment and recycling of contaminated soil. Our capacity to deploy these on sites saves clients a lot of unnecessary soil transport and removal costs.

― Contaminated ground water and drainage water

Soil remediation projects are often linked to the remediation of ground water and drainage water. Temporary and mobile water treatment plants are available for short-term drainage or soil remediation works, while permanent water treatment plants can be designed for long-term projects. We have built up a wealth of knowledge and specific expertise in tackling heavily contaminated and difficult to treat water and leachate.

― Customised work

Our various soil and sludge treatment technologies include bioremediation, physico-chemical cleaning, thermal treatment, sludge draining via lagooning, filter presses or belt filter presses, stabilisation and immobilisation. We also have experience in on-site capping, where waste is safely encapsulated on-site. This broad portfolio of specialist capability allows us to offer clients a customised solution in which different techniques can be used in combination. The R&D department of the DEME Research Centre draws on its expertise to make the impossible possible.
